EDITORIAL CONSULTING
Every film reaches a point where the people closest to it can no longer see it. I come in at that point.
I work with directors and producers who have a cut that isn't landing yet, and want someone seeing it for the first time. Sometimes that's a set of detailed notes on a rough assembly. Sometimes it's a week in the room rebuilding the structure. Sometimes it's the narrower problem of getting to length without gutting what works.
Over twenty-five years I've built films from scratch and been brought into films in trouble. I've also cut pilots that went on to become successful documentary series — work where the first episode has to prove the whole show.
For seven years I taught in the MFA program at NYU Tisch, workshopping hundreds of student films. That sharpened something specific: saying what isn't working in terms a filmmaker can act on.
I work in English and Spanish.
If you're in the middle of something and want to talk it through, get in touch. I'd be glad to hear about your film.
